China has temporarily stopped releasing youth unemployment data after it hit back-to-back record highs over a wider economic slump.

Officials say the methodology of these stats needs to be reassessed after the rate of urban unemployment for 16- to 24-year olds recently shot up to 21.3%, causing huge concern as millions of grads look for work.
